













The series describes a day in the life of the fishermen in Ras al Hadd, Oman.
The day begins early in the morning at 4 a.m. The tuna is caught from a depth of 80 meters without net. White markers are placed on the black fishing lines at ten-meter intervals to determine the exact depth in which the tuna islocated. These markers allow the fishermen to bait other tuna at the corresponding depth. Smaller fish, about 15 cm long, are tied on a square, rather bulky stone, which wedges itself in the stomach of the fifty- to eighty-kilogram tuna. In this way they can be pulled from the depths of the sea to the boat, where they are stowed with combined effort below deck.
Upon their return, other fishermen from the community are already waiting on the beach. Of course, to inspect the day’s catch, but also to store the tuna temporarily before weighing and packing them on ice for further transport.
